When dogs first arrive at Homeward Bound, they are understandably unsure and even fearful of their new surroundings. Most adjust quickly, going from scared to happy, with the help of our volunteers. (Hunter “before” above; Hunter “after” below.)
But others have emotional scars that require extra care and attention.
We thought our friend’s blog post at Peace, Love and Fostering provided some great information about fearful dogs, understanding a dog’s body language and how to approach working with fearful dogs on their terms.
