How You Can Help
In addition to monetary support and wish list item donations,
Homeward Bound welcomes your donation of time! There are various ways you can help Homeward
Bound goldens, and new volunteers and new ideas are always welcome.
Whatever your interest, Homeward Bound goldens can benefit from your help! Below are some of the ways
you can get involved!
-
Volunteering
Want to make a big difference in the lives of homeless goldens? There are lots of rewarding and
fun opportunities to volunteer with Homeward Bound. No matter what your skills and interests, we
have a volunteer opportunity to match. You can get involved a little or a lot! Please contact our
team leaders for whatever areas interest you. Want to get
involved, but don't see anything that specifically sparks your interest? Just contact us at
volunteering@homewardboundgoldens.org
and a volunteer will get in touch with you to talk about other volunteer opportunities and discuss
interests and ideas you have! Children must be at least 13 years old to volunteer.

Golden Taxi Team
The Golden Taxi Team is a dedicated group of volunteers who transport
dogs as the need arises. Whether the need is for a dog to be transported from a shelter, from a
surrendering owner, to the vet or to its forever home, the Golden Taxi gets the job done. Whether
you're interested in doing long-distance transports or just those around town, the Golden Taxi Team
is a way to make big contribution in the life of a rescued golden. If you're interested in helping
out, please contact our Golden Taxi coordinator at
goldentaxi@homewardboundgoldens.org.
-
Placement Team
Meet with interested adopters in your community and help match a golden with their new family! For
more information about the Placement Team, please contact Lynn Pihera at
homevisits@homewardboundgoldens.org .

Events
In addition to our rescue and adoption efforts, Homeward Bound is involved in the community. We
participate in a variety of events each year - gift wrapping during the holidays at various Borders
Books locations, marching in the Sacramento Santa Parade, participating in the dog day event at the
UC Davis Picnic, Doggie Dash, and more. We want to let people know about the hundreds of goldens who
are rescued each year and about the many more who need rescuing. We want to educate the
community about rescue and be a resource where we are needed. If you know of an event that Homeward
Bound might participate in, please contact Jana Mauk, our Events Coordinator, with the details. In
addition, since we are non-profit and exist on donations, we are always in search of fundraising
opportunities. If you know of a fundraising opportunity for Homeward Bound, please let Jana know!
Jana can be reached at events@homewardboundgoldens.org.
