Roscoe's legacy of love will live on ...
Sadly, Roscoe lost his brave battle with cancer on Sunday, February 9, 2003. He had developed great difficulty breathing and was unable to sleep without choking and gasping. It was decided that the kindest thing to do for him was let him go. He spent his last day being loved and cuddled by his last two foster moms, foster dad and kids. He played happily outside with his foster dad. He shared two two cookies and thoroughly enjoyed a Frosty Paws. Then he laid in the arms of his foster mom and slipped quietly away, able to sleep at last. Roscoe left us peacefully, knowing he was loved.

Roscoe's contribution to Homeward Bound and to other homeless goldens is immense, as his story has touched people all over the US and beyond. So many generous people donated money for his care. A kind hearted woman who makes custom-made dog beds has offered to design a special bed named "The Roscoe Bed" and donate all profits to Homeward Bound in Roscoe's memory. An artist drew a beautiful portrait of Roscoe...simply because his story touched her.

The portion of the money which was donated for Roscoe's care and was not used for him, will be used to help other special needs goldens. One example is Zooey, a beautiful 8-year old golden girl who came to us blind. An examination has determined her to be a good candidate for cataract surgery. Thus Roscoe's legacy may mean that this beautiful golden girl will be able to see again.

Homeward Bound wishes to thank those of you who prayed for Roscoe and donated to his fund. Your generosity is so much appreciated. Roscoe touched us all...and his legacy of love will live on.
