What's Happening

Our dream of an adoption center for goldens awaiting adoption and a sanctuary for those with terminal illness to live out their lives has become a reality.

With thousands of hours worth of hard work, donated by dedicated volunteers, the past several years have seen a transformation of an abandoned eight-acre parcel into a beautiful, peaceful sanctuary for the Goldens. It has become a place where golden lives are saved and human lives are enhanced.

Our modern, climate controlled kennel room affords clean and safe accommodations for those Goldens awaiting adoption. With industrial grade insulation, fold-down beds, classical music playing softly in the background, and lots of dedicated volunteers to give them love, play and attention, the Goldens are well cared for as they await their forever families to come and meet them.

An isolation ward, paid for and constructed by two generous volunteers, provides a safe place for dogs that are sick or recovering from surgery to recover peacefully without infecting the other residents.

Homeward Bound is fortunate to have our own on-site vet! Dr. Justina Codde donates many hours to the Goldens each week. We are so grateful to her that we built her a vet clinic on site! It is fully equipped with everything she needs to perform exams, draw blood, give vaccinations, and perform minor treatments.

industrial washer and dryer

An industrial style washer and dryer allow volunteers to wash the mountains of towels, blankets, and dog toys everyday.

dogs swim and play in a pool

A swimming pool, designed specially for the dogs, and paid for with funds donated by a generous supporter, provides a great place for exercise, cooling off, and strengthening recovering joints and muscles.

Mature shade trees and huge grassy yards create the perfect place for the Goldens to run, play, relax and interact with visiting potential adopters.

Eight acres means there’s a lot of grass to mow each week. We appreciate our grounds keeping volunteers!

A memorial garden honoring our golden companions who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge is under construction. We are looking for volunteer gardeners to help bring it to life.

The Homeward Bound van elicits smiles and waves from golden lovers who see it motoring around transporting dogs to the Adoption Center and to and from the vet.
