Success Story

Winslow

Winslow

Dear Jody & Mike,

It's coming up shortly Winslow's two year "birthday".  Last year was a little rough on him, as he had a knee and ear operation. But he is doing just wonders now and really responds to our every movement. Sandy and I cannot "hug" in front of him, as he begs for attention. Sitting in the backyard is the same way. Winslow  has to sit between us at times to make sure the Wins is noticed! He is very loved and in return, he has loved us.

But here's a story for all to take notice. In the backyard, we have a rule that no dog will wear a collar for safety reasons, ie getting caught in the bushes, etc. On Feb 4th we returned home and found no dog! I searched the neighborhood and surrounding areas for nearly two hours, no Winslow. My neighbor asked if he has a chip in him and of course he does. She told us that sometimes the police would pick up strays and this lady will come down and test the dog for a chip. I told Sandy, no way am I going to call the police for a dog.

Only I did and guess what? Winslow was picked up an hour before. So when we got to him, he was in a warm dog house with a bucket full of water, just happy as heck to see us. As we were happy to see him. We fixed the hole in the fence and he now wears a collar 24-7 with name and phone number. But we are very happy to have him and he's probably lucky to have us. I hope you get all of this .

2001:

Dear Jody & Mike,

Congratulations on your new project "home" for the goldens. Winslow has been an exceptional find for us. He has been a true friend and buddy. His presence has made the choice of getting another dog, a wise one. He now "owns" four different sleeping areas (a little spoiled I would say). He has a bed in the living room (for day use when we are there), one in our bedroom (for night night time). In fact around 9:30 or so he knows it's his walk time before bedtime. I don't know who trained who on that aspect. He has a sleeping bag on the patio for his day time use. And recently we cleaned out our shed and laid another sleeping bag there in case we are not home and it rains or it gets to cold.

One son was home for a week (from the East Coast) and fell in love with Winslow. In fact he stated he wouldn't mind taking him back. No way! Our other son will be coming home for Thanksgiving and Winslow will then meet the last of our children. Thanksgiving will be a special treat for Winslow, with the turkey, stuffing and gravy. I am sure he won't mind that one bit.

We have mentioned we are taking some pictures of Winslow and will have that formatted on a disk so we can email them to you. He seems very happy and content with his new home. Again, many thanks and wishing you the very best in the years to come.
