Success Story

Cherie

By Raena

One day a little French girl walked into our life.
A sweet little girl to help us through our strife.
Up on the bed and couch without a care,
She and Diesel make such a pair.
We tried sister but first the brother.
We chose her because we love her.
Our house did quickly adjust,
to her calm demeanor and trust.
We had to name her.
A name that would purr.
It had to be special and a work of art,
so we named her, Cherie, French for sweetheart.

We had another golden rescue named Jasmine, and she was dear. Jasmine was too aggressive and we had to give her back up. To replace her, we fostered some puppies for Jodi and Mike. We fostered Larry, then Jordan and then found out Jordan had a sister. We went to Jody's and took home Zoie. As soon as I saw her I knew we would probably keep her because she was too cute to pass up. We wanted to change her name but didn't know to what. We knew we didn't want a typical name since she wasn't typical. We couldn't decide and I am taking French in High School and so I thought up a few French words like: pretty, sweetheart, nice, cute, sweet, darling. The only one that seem to fit somewhat was sweetheart. My dad started calling her that and so she became Cherie, French for sweetheart. She has definitely grown into that name and we love her to death. Diesel, our nine year old Flat Coat, likes her and enjoys the house being more calm. Cherie is the joy in our life and we are very content. Cherie and her brother, who was recently adopted, were taken in at the Golden Retriever Reunion because the mother of the pups was not properly taking care of them. Cherie's mother was a German Shepard while her dad was a large Golden. She looks completely like a golden, except for her total black tongue, she even has the head notch.
