Success Story

STANLEY

Dear Jody & Lynn....and everyone else out there:

I know I haven't even been gone from there for 24 hours yet, but sooooo much has happened! Mom put me in the minivan when we left Homeward Bound for the trip to Woodland. But I didn't want to sit on the seat behind the driver's seat. I chose the third seat back. The one near the wing windows with a panoramic view of everything. And I settled right in for the ride home. I LOVE riding in the car!

Well, first thing when we got home, I was met at the door by Angel, the cat. We each kinda looked at each other (Mom hadn't warned either one of us about the other). Then Angel gave me a great big kiss...on the muzzle. Hey, she's okay! Already she is sleeping with me and whispering stuff in my ears.

They have this crazy mixed up parrot, Suzy. She barks like a little dog. Sounds just like one and really is confusing. But the worst was when Suzy made the sound of a trash truck back-up beeper. Oh boy, I thought there was a stinky ol' truck in the living room and I ran and hid behind Mom. I've got Suzy's number now and I just tune her out completely.

So, back to ME. I have met several of the little dogs that live in this apartment community and they are all pretty friendly. The all have little ol' ladies on the other end of their leashes, and the ladies think I'm great. I've even let most of them pet me. Mom let me choose where I wanted my bed (she thought in the bedroom, but I made it clear I wanted to be in the dining room near that stupid bird.) I have already learned "come", both verbal and sign language; and I'm doing it most of the time. I love being brushed and getting hugs. And if I want more when Mom stops, I make no bones about nuzzling her with my nose to get more attention.

Oh, about that thing with yanking the collar that makes me kinda snap. Mom may have spotted a problem there. I have a lump on my neck and Mom thinks it's probably tender. She said she is going to watch it and keep you advised if it changes at all.

That's about all for right now. I'll write regularly and keep you updated on my progress. Mom says this next week is going to be all about learning the "basics", whatever that means. And about love, love, love.

Oh, yeah, Mom's daughter came by yesterday evening. She's pretty knowledgeable about dog breeds and she thinks I might be a Golden x Husky. Whatever. Right now I'm just one happy dog (and I'm wagging my tail a lot to show it).

Love & sloppy kisses,

Stanley
