Dear Homeward Bound,

Here is a photo of Sammy whom we adopted when he was four years old. He is ten years old now and has turn out to be a real joy. In the morning, he lets us know when it is time for his three mile walk which he enjoys very much. When we got him he had been used to eating table scraps and not getting any exercise so he was thirty pounds overweight.

He has required no training, has good manners, loves everybody except any large dogs that he thinks might try to out- bluff him.

Stasia Walters, your representative in Blue Lake, found him for us and she was very particular that she found a good home for him. I described our backyard and new dog house to her over the phone and when she brought him down, she said “ this is dog heaven .” The truth of the matter is he spends most of the time in the house, especially in bad weather and follows us from room to room. He wants to be right where we are. My wife thought we would never have a large dog in the house especially after having had several German shepherds that never came in the house.

One daughter who was intimidated by one big German shepherd when she was about thirteen years old really likes Sammy and has said that he is “ priceless.“  Thank you for your wonderful efforts.
