Success Story

ROCKY SMITH

Rocky by the pool.                  Rocky and Flippy sleeping in their featherbed.

Dear Jody and all my friends at Homeward Bound,

Thanks for taking care of me and finding me a new home. My journey was long and hard, which is why my nickname was “Traveler” while I stayed at the sanctuary. My new family stuck with my original name which is Rocky.

I’ve been with the Smith’s since August and man…..do I have it made. I sleep on pillows next to my new Mom & Dad’s bed, go for walks every day, and get pets and love from everyone that comes over to my new house to play tennis. Attached is a picture of me reclining in my lounge chair near the swimming pool, one of my favorite spots in my new yard!

I have a real pretty golden retriever sister named Flippy that is 13 years old. Before I got here she was real depressed because she lost her brother and littermate Bear to cancer in July of 2002. She also has hip problems and my Mom & Dad were real worried about her, until I came along. Before I got here she had problems getting up, standing, walking, or even going to the bathroom by her self. Now she goes for walks every day with my Dad and I, romps around our yard and even chases squirrels! Attached is a picture of the two of us, snoozing on our featherbed (that’s right….we have a FEATHERBED we share for afternoon naps!)

My Mom takes real good care of me and gives me medicine for an ear infection and some other minor health problems I had. I’m real happy here and I give my Mom, Dad, and sister Flippy a lot of love, because I get a lot of love. I also think I have helped all three of them get over the pain they have had in their hearts when they lost their other red headed golden Bear last year.

Thanks for finding me a great home that has worked out for everyone.

Sincerely,

Mr. Rocky Smith
