Success Story

KOBE & LACEY

Lady & Kobie

Dear Jody,

We just wanted you to know that we are doing well!  Our tummies were a little upset the first day, but those stale bagels did the trick.  We are eating up a storm, but in two different places.  Our new mom and dad want to make sure that we each get our share and that I, Kobe, don't wolf down my food so fast.

We are settling into our new daily routine.  We are great sleepers.  We did wake mom up at 4 a.m. the first night to let her know we wanted to go out.  They have doggy doors which we are now using with few problems.  For some darned reason, we both can't go through them at the same time!  You already know who eventually ends up going first. Yup, Lady!  Sunday night we slept in until around 6:30.  We decided to sleep in the living room even though they bought us nice new beds which are next to theirs.  Monday night Lady decided to sleep next to mom on the floor and I slept in the hall.  Perhaps tonight I will get a little more brave and sleep next to dad.  They have already found out that we snore up a storm!

We have our doctor appointments for next Tuesday.  Mom and dad want to know our little quirks before we go.  They think that Lady will probably need Rymadyl as she has problems getting up and down.

We have been brushed, brushed, and brushed some more.  Boy do we look fantastic.  Dad took pictures of us and has sent them to our new family before we get to meet in person.

We are good walkers and take a morning "walk" which is over a mile around the block. We get our treat when we get back to the house.  We can't wait to go to Angler's Cove which is a wildlife preserve here.  They tell us we are really going to like it!

Dad came home from work and found that we were voicing our concerns about being let alone for 15 minutes.  Mom had a nail appointment and we were on our own for that short period of time.  Today they left us for a few minutes while they went to the bank together.  We weren't barking when they got back, but were laying by the door.  We really greeted them royally!  We hope they take us next time because we really love to go in the car!  While mom was unloading groceries, we both tried to jump into the back of her Highlander.  She found us side by side with our front paws on the bumper.  We just aren't able to make that big jump on our own.

Thanks for giving us such a nice interim home and say hello to everyone there.  We just looked at the web page and noticed that our ADOPTED sign had already been posted.  It really was great to see that we have our forever home and that so many others found theirs as well.

Kisses and  paw shakes to you all,   Kobe and Lady

Update: June 14, 2007

Dear Jody,

Mom and Dad said we could drop you a line and give you an update on our progress. Kobe said that I could take a turn this time. Mom thought that since I was so "youthful acting" that Lady was too mature of a name for me. She thought that Lacey was more fitting and I like it! I come when I am called every time!

They can't get over how wonderfully behaved we are and how love we have brought to the home with us!

We got trimmed and look very nice. Mom was out of town when we got groomed and she thinks that more fur has to come off. She had told Dad that she hoped we still loved like golden retrievers when they finished and we truly do. However, the fur thing is still a slight problem. Luckily, our house is decorated with goldens in mind so our fur truly does blend in nicely :)

We are being introduced to their friends and are a big hit! The cleaning lady saw us before Mom could tell her and she stopped dead in in tracks! She thought that we were the ghosts of Makena and Sam because we look so much alike.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that one of us stepped on Mom's right little toe when we were in the doctor's office. We were a little active because it was new to us. It is now very black and blue and she has it taped to her next toe. She said is doesn't hurt. We are about 15 pounds heavier that either Makena or Sam and she is learning that we are big guys. We went for our walk this morning and Kobe and I both walked on Mom's left side so we wouldn't walk on her foot. We actually did better that way than one on each side. You know how much we like to be close to each other!

Mom and Dad keep saying it seems like we have been with them always and I think that is a good thing. They said they couldn't imagine not having us! I think we are all lucky, don't you? Kobe sends his best.

 Loves and Hugs, Lacey
