Bella
Dear
Homeward Bound,
Bella is doing wonderfully as a part of our family and has come a looong way from the sad doggy we adopted last May. When we got her she was always a sweet girl, but very distant and depressed. She had no idea what toys were for, was incredibly submissive, and refused to go outside. The cats would gang up on her and she would do nothing but sit there. She bonded to me almost immediately and would HOWL when I left. Well, she still howls when I leave, but she does a lot better on her own now! It took her a few months to realize I wasn’t going to leave her outside all day, and began venturing out without being dragged outside and babied while she did her business. She met Buddy out next door neighbor's golden and then she really blossomed. She has learned how to be a dog through him, and they are the best of friends! They play, they make out, she whacks him around, they play bite and chase; she’ll even go for his toys, but ONLY when she is with him. Toys without Buddy are irrelevant. He has taught her how to play, how to jump into the back of the truck, and how to drink water from a fountain!
Bella blossoms in the outdoors! She turns into a real dog! She sniffs, she runs, she swims like a fish! Summertime around here is a lot of fun for Bella! She is still fairly submissive, but so much better than she was! She gets along with anyone and everyone, except small dogs - she tolerates them, and would never go for one, but she does low-growl them. She and my 2 year old have a very special bond; I will often find them curled up together on Bella’s dog bed. We have a newly adopted stray kitty, and she and Bella have bonded as well. I’m still very much her “person” She is a true Velcro dog!! I really just adore my sweet mellow Bella girl. She really is the perfect dog for our family! Thank you so much for what you do!!
Love,
The Field Family
