Success Story

BJ and Brandy

BJ and Brandy with Jerry and Grandaughter Megan.

Dear Homeward Bound,

Enclosed is a photo of BJ and Brandy.  They have been with us approximately four months now and I thought you might like a progress report on their new lives.

First, we adore them (which is no surprise to you I am sure).  There were some adjustments at first because they were not used to living in the country and we did not understand their personalities just yet.

Brandy and I went to six weeks of obedience classes.  She is a very sweet dog, and a handful at first, but then she seemed to look forward to going to class and we both learned a lot.  The class has a great teacher and I am very glad we took the class and would recommend it to anyone.  Lots of positive rewards.  I also found out that we had a very smart dog!

Brandy spends her day mostly with Jerry around the ranch..she is like glue.  He sometimes rides his 4-wheeler around the ranch and she runs right beside him.  She is always ready to go when he starts that up.  Occasionally she gets to swim in our pond.  We do not let her go down there unless we are with her, but she does love it.  One day she was swimming and the geese in the pond came right up to her to check her out.  Not quite sure what she thought of that!  We do keep a "kiddie" pool for them and they are in and out of that all day long.  The dog trainer said we had Velcro dogs, she was certainly correct.  Cannot imagine having any other kind.

BJ has become very spoiled.  He is my baby (so to speak).  He is the most loving dog I have ever had.  He of course did not need to go to dog training class.  As I would work with Brandy at home, he would do everything I would tell her to do..I think he still knows tricks we have not figured out yet.  Brandy is the ranch dog, but BJ has become the house dog.  He roams around the ranch with us, hangs out in the garden with me, but mostly likes to play ball or just carry one around, and just get lots of attention.

I am so glad we took both dogs.  They love to play together although BJ gets tired really fast...who could keep up with Brandy!

So, we appreciate Homeward Bound for all that you do and putting such loving dogs with people such as Jerry and I who could not imagine not having them in our lives now.

Sincerely,
Shirley Huff
