A Poem for Truly

I’ll love you forever, Truly
I’ll love you when your fur is matted, gray and thinning,
I’ll love you when your eyes are sunken and old,
I’ll still love you when the black on your nose has been worn away from all of the kisses I gave,
Even when your legs are too feeble to hold your body; 
then I’ll carry you where you want to go,
And I’ll still love you Truly.
And when you are a mere memory, my love
for you will not falter; and inside my mind, you’ll always be precious in my eyes,
you young, sweet, and beautiful baby-faced Truly.
