In Memory of Melissa

Dear Homeward Bound,

It’s with much sadness that we write to let you know that our Melissa was ‘put to sleep’ early this afternoon.  She confounded veterinary medicine until recently, when we found out that cancer had progressed to her lungs.  After three+ months of biopsies, ultrasounds, arthroscopic surgery, radiographs – and at least four skilled veterinarians on her case – we never identified any cancer…but obviously, it was there.  

We decided to let Melissa go before she was in pain.   She had Whole Foods chicken noodle soup for breakfast, ice cream as a snack, and was sitting in the sun most of the morning (she loved to lounge in the sun).  She passed away very peacefully today, surrounded by love.  Maxwell and Marni even said their good-byes.  Thank you all for your support over these past difficult months.
