"Barking For Bucks" Fundraiser
A monthly fundraising campaign benefiting Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc.
BARKING  FOR  BUCKS  *  Revised for 2009!

Dear Homeward Bound Volunteers & Supporters ~

After critiquing the 2008 Barking for Bucks campaign (a total of $1657 was raised in 2008), we have concluded that while the campaign's fundamental idea had merit, the structure of the campaign was cumbersome and not very "user friendly."  So, we have revamped the campaign for 2009.  Rather than asking for monthly donations of $1.00 per month, as we did in 2008, we're instead asking our volunteers and supporters to make their total annual donation of $12.00 at one time.  Then, in the interest of simplicity, we're asking each Homeward Bound volunteer to ask just ONE additional person to match their $12.00 contribution.  If each and every HBGRR volunteer were to donate $12.00 and then ask one additional person to match that donation, the Barking for Bucks 2009 campaign would almost immediately raise close to $5000!  Of course, if someone wished to donate more than $12.00, that would be wonderful, too!

Since there will be no pledge sheets to fill out and no monthly follow-up needed, it will be much easier for everyone to participate in this year's campaign.  Donation checks for Barking for Bucks can be made payable to HBGRR and mailed to Cheryl Gorewitz, HBGRR Redding Volunteer, 11415 Ridgewood Rd., Redding, CA. 96003.  Cheryl will log all the donations as they are received, issue donation receipts, and then forward the donations to HBGRR's treasurer.

Things to consider:
  • Would you be willing to skip one latte a week and donate that money instead to the goldens?
  • How about skipping one manicure or pedicure?
  • Could your children challenge the kids at school to donate $1.00 a month?  Could they make it a class project?
Let's see if Barking for Bucks can gain some momentum in 2009!  To participate in the Barking for Bucks 2009 campaign, contact Cheryl Gorewitz at CanineResQ@aol.com.  Together, we can make the 2009 Barking for Bucks campaign a howling success!

Note: The volunteer who collected the most donations in the 2008 Barking for Bucks campaign was its organizer, Cheryl Gorewitz.  As the "winner," she was entitled to a beautiful basket full of dog goodies, but instead, has graciously offered to "redonate" the basket to an upcoming Homeward Bound raffle.  The 2008 campaign runner up was Lisa Ross.  A huge "thank you" to Cheryl for organizing the campaign, to Lisa for her enthusiastic participation, and to everyone who participated and donated!
